Internship Programme in Tenerife: Marine Biology, Whale Watching and Marine Science

It’s not just about seeing the ocean. It’s about learning how to observe it, understand it, and become part of its conservation.

At Biosean, we offer internship placements every month for students, researchers and nature enthusiasts who want to experience real, hands-on work in direct contact with the ocean. A programme designed to learn, contribute and grow professionally from within.

Purpose-driven internships

At Biosean, we see internships as much more than an academic requirement. They are an opportunity to gain professional experience, deepen your knowledge of whale watching and marine science, and become part of an environment where observation, education and conservation are present every day.

Whether you are a student, researcher or simply someone passionate about nature, this programme will allow you to experience the ocean from a close, rigorous and transformative perspective.

In addition, if you are developing an academic project, such as a final thesis or research project, you will be able to carry it out with our guidance and within a real-world context.

What will you experience during your internship?

The internship takes place at our facilities and includes a hands-on, educational experience directly linked to our whale watching and marine science activities.

As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • take part in our whale watching and marine science activities
  • receive an initial training session to integrate into our workflow
  • gain professional experience in a real environment
  • learn about marine wildlife observation and best practices at sea
  • apply your knowledge in a practical context
  • develop research or academic projects with guidance

Here, you don’t just come to observe. You come to get involved, learn and be part of a real experience

During your internship, you will stay at Finca Biosean, a unique place located in Las Zocas, San Miguel de Abona, surrounded by nature and with views of the sea and the mountains.

It is an environment designed to experience Biosean beyond activity hours: a peaceful, inspiring and lively space, surrounded by beautiful vegetation including olive trees, fruit trees, cacti, palm trees and Canary Island pines.

The finca offers different accommodations and shared spaces that make this stay a truly special experience:

  • the main house, an underground Canarian cave with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shared kitchen
  • the Alpine House, a small triangular house, cozy and fully equipped, with bathroom and kitchen
  • the Boat House, a real boat transformed into a fully equipped and charming accommodation
  • an office and workspace, where we will hold presentations and theoretical classes
  • a barbecue area, designed to share time together
  • a swimming pool in the center of the finca, ideal for enjoying the surroundings and relaxing

Finca Biosean is much more than accommodation. It is a place where participants can connect, learn from each other, live together, socialize and discover Tenerife as a group.

Here, an important part of the experience also takes place.

The cost of the programme is €1485 per month.

This amount includes:

  • accommodation at Finca Biosean, in Las Zocas, San Miguel de Abona
  • airport transfers (arrival and departure), Monday to Saturday, from 09:00 to 19:00
  • transport for participants to the port
  • Biosean uniform: t-shirt and hoodie
  • training session
  • ongoing mentoring and support throughout the stay
  • participation in our whale watching and marine science activities

More than just a stay, it is an immersive experience in Biosean’s daily work and in a way of living the ocean from within.

We also offer special discounts for those who wish to stay longer and complete internships over several months. A longer stay allows for better integration into the team, deeper learning, and a more complete experience.

We understand that each person has different goals, timelines and circumstances. For this reason, we encourage you to apply even if you need to adapt the programme to your personal, academic or research needs. We will be happy to review your case and find the best possible option together.
