About us
Our passion for the sea and marine species unites us in this great project

Meet the team

Misael Morales Vargas

Director / Marine Biologist / Captain

I am a marine biologist and have had a close connection with the sea since I was a child. I have traveled the world for many years exploring the oceans. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in marine biology in Margarita, Venezuela (2007) and master’s in marine Biological Sciences in Brest, France (2010).

From very early in my career, cetaceans became my passion. I am also a certified diving instructor and the one who operates the boat. Spanish is my native language, and I am fluent in English, French and Italian. I also understand and speak some German.

I founded Biosean because I want to promote the conservation of the oceans and make people aware of its importance through science: Combining a whale watching tourist operation with a field study.

Daniela D’Andrea

Co-Owner | Operations, Logistics & Client Relations

My name is Daniela, and for a long time I felt that my home was the world. Born in Italy and raised in Germany, I have always been drawn to international environments, languages, and working with people. After graduating in linguistics and cultural studies, I developed my career in customer-facing and tourism-related sectors, gaining experience in public relations, hospitality, guest services, translation, logistics, and communication.

Since 2017, Tenerife has become my home, and with Biosean I have found a deeply fulfilling professional path: a place where tourism, science, and conservation come together. Being part of a project that promotes awareness, respect, and protection for marine mammals and their habitat is something that is very meaningful to me.

At Biosean, I take care of the front and back office, including administration, reservations, enquiries, logistics, organisation, and daily coordination. Most importantly, I look after the people behind every booking and every message. Whether someone contacts us by phone, email, or WhatsApp, I want them to feel the personal attention, care, and dedication that make Biosean different. I believe that a great experience begins long before boarding the boat — it starts with trust, communication, and feeling genuinely welcome.

I speak German, Spanish, English, and Italian fluently, and I am always happy to help. Please feel free to get in touch.

Raúl Rodríguez Roig

Biólogo / Capitán

I am a general biologist, but both my academic life and my hobbies have always been strongly focused on the great blue. Despite being born in Seville, my deep passion for the sea has always been a constant in my life.

I graduated in Biology in Seville in 2013. During my studies, I was a founding member of the university’s diving club and participated in several underwater sampling projects. I have worked as a diving instructor and whale-watching guide in the Maldives, Thailand and Indonesia. During my career as a diving instructor, I taught numerous marine zoology courses.

Spanish is my native language and I can communicate fluently in English and French. Since 2024, I have been very happy to be part of the Biosean project, sharing the biodiversity of the Atlantic Ocean and working for the conservation of wild cetaceans and the protection of their habitat.

Our partnerships
The Biosean team extends through cooperations with universities, NGOs, research centers, independent researchers and with the great help of our interns.

Agreements with Universities

Since our beginnings, we have maintained agreements with universities in Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Italy, and the United States for the exchange of data and students through our professional internship program.

Internships and Work Placements

If you are passionate about nature, marine biology, and conservation, this is your place. Our doors are always open to welcome interns and placement students who wish to develop their research projects, gain professional experience, or simply learn.

Monitoring program of cetaceans and sea turtles in the south of Tenerife

Since our inception in April 2019, we have carried out constant monitoring of cetaceans and sea turtles. The program consists of taking advantage of tourist outings to watch cetaceans, to collect biological and ecological data, useful for the investigation of the species we observe.

With this data, the objective is to generate knowledge that allows us to protect biodiversity and propose efficient management measures to preserve our marine ecosystems.

Our constantly growing database has allowed us to generate numerous degree and master’s projects, research projects, presentations at conferences and cooperations with universities.

Our projects and collaborations

At Biosean, we develop initiatives that connect the ocean with people. From tourism and educational experiences to international training programs, all our projects share the same essence: living, exploring, and learning from the sea.
